Powdered milk- a short note




 Osip Krichevsky , a Russian doctor produced this product in 1802.

 Made by dehydrating milk till it forms a white powder 

 Milk is sprayed in a thin layer of a heat surface and milk solids are scraped off.

 Freeze drying conserves nutrients 

 These powder can be stored for long time  

 Merits are it's light weight, no need refrigeration , quick to make, can be taken for traveling 

 Western Blotting - a technique for separating proteins, where powdered milk had another use
