OIL PAINTS
- They are made by mixing and grinding a pigment with drying vegetable oil like linseed oil
- The paint can be applied to many different surface and texture like canvas
- Before painting, canvas is stretched on a wooden frame and surface is prepared with glue and primer
- 2 main brushes are mainly used
- One is STIFF HOG HAIR BRISTLE BRUSH for covering large areas
- SOFT HAIR BRUSH from sable for fine detail
- Painting knives also used to achieve different effects.
- IMPASTO- a technique where oil paint applied thickly
- Can also be thinned by using Turpentine or white spirit .
- Varshines applied on finished painting to protect the surface and to give gloss finish look.
- Linseed oil is derived from flax seed plant .
- Canvas like Cotton duck , Fine linen or Coarse linen is used .
