Digital Clock

 Clocks usually have 2 jobs. 

 Display the right time & give a measurement of a time interval. 

 Digital clocks are numeric .

 Hours, minutes and seconds are displayed by numbers 

 German inventor JOSEF PALLWEBER patented a digital watch at early 1883.i

 Development of digital clock proper is closely associated with the history of digital display. 

 Earliest example is the glowing end of valve tubes that will indicate numbers. 

 Much loved by the nuclear physics instrumentation industry in 1950s

 Modern digital clock relied on development of  LED & LCD.

 Film director STANLEY KUBRICK famously showed a futuristic digital clock in 1968 science fiction masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey

 Small and cheap digital clocks have been used in many devices from microwave to cell phones.
